Description

The relatively large area provided to the citizens of the Russian government at the end of the Qajar period. In addition to the building of the Russian Consulate in Qazvin, another facility, such as water supply, theater and ballet floor, was constructed for use by Russian engineers and staff working on the Qazvin Road Project. Among these is the small church located in the southeast of the complex known as the Church of Cantor.

In this work, the irregular polygon plan, the red brick view of the dome covering the dome along with the glazed and innovative bricks in geometric decorative forms, offers a completely different architecture with other buildings in the province.

At the entrance of the church, after crossing the small porch, which is half a meter above the earth’s surface, is arranged with wooden columns and its ceiling is sloping, with a crescent arc on the west, it opens to the main hall and two small rooms in the north. It joins the south, each with horseshoe windows that are connected to the outside.

An interesting gemstone decoration is used inside and outside the western exterior. The exterior of the church is completely red brick, and around all the windows that have a horseshoe facade, two rows of bricks are used. On the southern side, there are three half-columned tower-shaped columns at the intersection of the sides, and they are decorated in columns with a striking bricklayer. The top of the column and the spacing of the columns have a raised workbench of Hashti. The bell tower is located on the western side of the church.

On these four arches, there is a smaller octagonal structure, which is the place for the bell to play. The cover of this tower is a turquoise dome with a drawn neck
